little outing for you all. Everything seems so nice & fresh since the rain. & the air seems so good. far better than the hot air of yesterday. I hope you are having it some cooler. well this month is about gone & hope June will be far better. Jim does not come over. he is used up & Talbot has not been here lately. I saw him in the square with his long legs & short body. he is what you might call a very lazy man. he lays abed till nine oclock [[o'clock]] mornings but gets lots of comfort in doing as he's a mind to. he does not have to worry over money matters. but who would care to live just for one self alone. he is an improvement on his father for he is temperate & not so selfish. they were both loyal to Pa.

I am having hard work to get the nighties out as the pattern does not cut to advantage, so I have got to [[piecen?]] it a bit, make the cloth in other words. & in that way hope I can get it out. so dont worry if it does not meet with your taste I will do the best I can any how & trust to luck for the result
Ma.

PS
The robins are building again up in the tree over the backdoor the same as they did last year. I hope they have good luck this time. poor things they get over it quick it seems lucky. It rained again during the night, as the steps were wet this morning
