he is losing grounds little from time to time. he is awful hard to please as he is so full of his worry. I stay out doors all the time I can.

Mrs. Ballentine was asking me about the bounds she is thinking of putting up her fence I guess. I hope she does she has a boy working over in her yard, she says he is a good worker & is working for some greenhouse man & she gets him very cheap, that what she is looking for, he sets out rose bushes Conlan when he moved from Franks house, gave them all his cedar posts & they are going to have a rose arbor. The old locus roots are all in their back yard, so she will find nothing will grow very much with them sapping the earth. they don't know much.

Our robin has hatched, the little birds are stretching up their heads & opening their mouths for worms. I hope they can get away & the old cats don't climb up the vine to tear their nest down, same as they did last year. Pa is feeling livelier & more like himself tonight since he was shaved. I made a custard & a small rhubarb pie today & got Pa some spinnage [[spinach]] & he ate four bran muffins since his dinner. the temperature has been just right today night before last they had frosts in the low lands I hear pretty cold night coming on after such hot weather. Fred Drake is over in Foxboro asylum.
