Addie Tucker left some money & she saved enough of it for that purpose. I have always felt that Cousin Fanny did not do the right thing by her, not to leave some thing when she died, as long as Sue went down to care for her in her last sickness. but money never goes when its the most needed it seems.

Peter McGarvey hailed me to inquire how Pa was as I came home from downtown this afternoon. he thinks it seems hard to see him in such a condition after being what he's been all his life.

For that reason, Pa hides up & wont see anyone. he says they are making fun of him & laughing at his expense. isnt [[isn't]] it terrible to have him feel that way. its a great pity, but there's nothing any one can do. I must finish this letter & go down after my bread for breakfast.
