This day has seemed more like spring than any & the birds are flitting hither & thither, after dinner I went out again in the warm sunshine & stayed an hour raking the dry grass & leaves away from the shrubs. Pa said he was watching me from the upstairs windows all the time. he has been hanging around sort of lonesome & uneasy like now after reading his paper, he wanted to know if I was going to stay night here. before he went upstairs, I told him I was so he probably will have a nap. he gets rested & its a good thing. I met B Welch down town & he stopped to ask about Pa. Ring wanted to know if it would do to call to see him tonight & I told him he shunned people & better not under the circumstances. so different to what he used to be he realizes his condition & doesn't want to see any one so whats [[what's]] the use in telling people any different. he is not his natural self at all. well Sue said to her folks before she died that he was more of a trial than Horace was & he will be more the longer he lives. I fear but never worry.
