Stoughton Dec 21st 1932

Dear Doris,
Another good nice day. I expect you are also enjoying the same. these are favorable times for Xmas shopping. I am not where I [[?]] much of it. although they try to keep up with the times here in Stoughton. & they do to a certain extent. windows look good. a great many from Canton come here to trade. I have not seen Ella since we were down there last fall. We have begun to receive our Xmas cards allready [already].

I shall have to get some cloth as my serving has come to an end. Pa will have another fit to have me go downtown again. but he gets over them quickly, so what's the use. only four more days before Xmas now. I suppose children are counting them every day. as well as some grown ups. the [Toomeys?] are destined to be made miserable in their home without Nellie. They can be comfortable but lonely. far better off than a great many. & the Dr's family cheer them up in their old age. Toms [Tom's] marriag [marriage] did a lot towards making his brothers ['s] & Nellies ['s] lives pleasant. they were always like one big family. very united more so than in the majority of cases. lucky it was so. too bad Alice ever
