Houghton Dec 8th 1932

Dear Doris
Another cold icy day but the sun is strugglin out of the cloudy sky & it shows signs of clearing after 1/2 past three. it looks icy in the streets I haven't had one occasion to step out since the snow came, lucky for me perhaps.
I had a caller this morning while I was in the midst of getting on my dinner, you know we have dinner at an early hour.
Mrs McDonald came to enquire how we were she, had an errand down the street I think. she spoke of his being laid off. she said Archie was also laid off on a six weeks vacation & was coming home then. he tells his father not to worry. he would see he would not suffer by any such change in the program. he has always saved his money & is going to do his father some good there in. I always knew his worth & liked him. While he growing up he was growing up he was different from the older one Francis. he got married they were all a good family
