Dear Doris
After blowing a fierce gale & deluge of heavy rains for the last few days, to night, it begins to show some signs of clearing. The wind has gone into the south since noon & it is very warm out.
I have just come in from sifting some ashes - changing dirt in flower pots. Alice is bothered with mealy bug which if it every gets on plants it is very hard to get rid of. So I am thankful to say I am free from the pest.
The little brown dog has just been over to get some fish bones & trimmings, he came in to see if he could see little Doris perhaps.
I made fish chowder for dinner. Pa ate it with a relish, it tasted good. My mince pies are good Lena eat a piece for her supper & called it good & I had made some sugar cookies that morning she said they were good.
