Dear Doris

Today its [[it's]] stormy warmer & I have been out in the back yard where the men are digging up a maple tree that I told them they might have to replace the one that died on the meeting lot in the Catholic cemetery.
There is not much doing today. I am going to have salt fish balls for supper, baked apples & squash pie. the apples taste good, for a change & I try to use them up the best way possible. later I am going to make some up into mince meat for mince pies. apples this year are very plentiful, its to bad for people to buy them when so many are rotting on the ground.

Pa is quiet he goes aroun [[around]] cherving [[shivering]] & warming his hands by the kitchen stove. Jed Smith was telling me yesterday how well they liked their store they burn oil he says & by leaving one burner going it heats the house. he says his mother had it put in to their store this fall & she says she wouldnt [[wouldn't]] be without it & costs one
