Stoughton August 3rd 1932

Dear Doris.

The day is lowery & has just set in for a good nice rain. ever since the shower went around early last evening the sky has been clouded in & now since three it has settled into a steady rain which I am in hopes will keep up untill [[until]] it wets down into the roots.

This forenoon I took the hatchet & went down into the lower part of the grove where Pa had cleared the trees & the under brush away. & since then the black berry bushes had made a good start & would soon been again a wild tangle of briers. I have got them pretty much routed & the leaves raked away.

I enjoyed clearing up the piece & mean to keep it so now. he worked hard to clear it at the time. a year ago last fall. that was about the last work he did around the premises. George McGarvey can see out to the road from his back windows. I did not do it for his benifit [[benefit]]] though.

Bruce has payed me his rent & so has Drake & I had $30. before they payed [[paid]] me so I am well fixed now & dont worry. I mean to find out about that water bill & pay it when I
