Dear Doris

Another shower during the night and a nice cool day today. the green stuff is getting back with every shower. I have been working out doors digging around my tomatoes in the garden & rakeing [[raking]] the fallen leaves from the gardens that join my neighbors grounds & they are looking more respectable there bye.

The flocks are in bloom & they added to the back yard. my flanders poppies have all got through blossoming & gone to seed. they are pretty but are gone after the early morning and blown away. my oriental poppies have gone to seed & I have scattered the seeds carefully

not able to keep the house up in shape. he does not work since he had his operation.

I miss the Ballentines some. it seems quiet not to see Addie going out with the car. I don't suppose they feel the hard times much. with a rich uncle to foot all their bills. but the old woman has hernias since she came out of the hospital after an operation. Thank God I haven't one of those. but don't see why I haven't after all the lifting & tugging I have done in my day. I guess it was on account of my abdominal muscle perhaps. Poor Jim he is not any good for the rest of his life. & Bertie is out of work & unable to do any thing hard. Ruby has them all & she is a good girl to her parents. Mary is an old woman but younger in years than we are. Pa has managed to eat half a cake since dinner & a supper on top of that. Mrs Gilzer says. they are all that way with his complaint. they have nothing else to think of & cant control their appetite. he said "what made you let me do it" he slies [[slides]] down & I don't know when he is doing it. let him go it. he down & I don't know when he is doing it. let him go it. he will live just as long
