Genl Ord,
A case was carried before Col Biddle a few days since by some hired Laborers in my employ_ I enclose a a copy of Contract you will be it is liberal_ and the duties to be performed fully stated_ All signed the Contract but one_ I found it impeachable to carry on the farm without a teamster_ Rails to be hauled, fences to be repaired, supplies from Natchez to be brought out &c_ I employed John Williams whom I know to be a competent ox driver_ he required money wages I agreed to pay him $ 12 (twelve) per month which I have done_ he has done all the hauling on the place, and worked in the crop (when not driving his Team) fully as well as any one on the Contract I consider him more valuable than [[strikethrough]][[/strikethrough]] an other on the place; without a driver supplies could not have been hauled or fences made up, he was never called on to do work outside
