Copy Janry 11th 1867 I James P Gillespie of Adams County (Miss) have made the following bargain and agreement with the undersigned Laborers to work on the Holly Wood Plantation for the present year to January 1st 1868_ They finding themselves to work there and faithfully and to obey orders of myself or agent_ The time of work shall be from sunrise to sunset resting half an hour at Breakfast and two hours at Dinner_ to do all kinds of work I ma require them to do on the Plantation, provide fire wood for the use of the house and yard, and take care of the work stack, and to repair fences and keep them in order I am to be the judge of the work and when to do it_ For which services well and full performed I find myself to pay them one third of all the Cotton Corn and Potatoes that is raised by them after it is prepared for market and sold; To furnish to each hand 4 lbs of Pork or Beef and one Peck of Meal weekly Land and teams and farming implements and feed the work animals They have also the privilege of as much ground as they wish for their Patches The[[strikethrough]]y[[/strikethrough]] hands are to have the whole of every other Saturday The[[strikethrough]]y[[/strikethrough]] alternate Saturday they are to work half the day_ Good order is to be preserved in the Quarters and elsewhere I having the right to dismiss any one for laziness or refusing to work or to work properly No Sunday work will be required unless of necessity such as feeding Flock and preservation of Crop_ Laborers pay
