We reached the S. head of St. L. bay and stopped before a native village to inquire for the Reindeer Chief from whom we expect to get deerskins 0 we learned that he is with his deer in Mechigme Bay and so taking a man on board who talks a little English we went up to the mouth of this bay but found it still full of ice. Between the S. head of St. L. Bay & the mouth of Mechigme there are several villages with a large one near the latter place. There are other places in Mechigme and our interpreter says a large river flows into the head of this bay.
