In reference to the claim of Thos. Gibson against the house of Shipp, Bourges & Co. I find that Gibson and five others worked for R.H. Carter for half the crop they to pay for supplies and half the feed, that they raised as their half share eleven bales, and shipped and obtained the proceeds of six, The remaining five bales were shipped to Shipp, Bourges & Co. subject to decision of Beard of Arbitration, which gave them entirely to S. B. & Co. under Cir. 24, 4th Mily. Dist. 1867, and Act of Miss. Legislature, Feb. 18" 1867. All of Carter's share of crop as well as all mules, stock, feed &c. on the place was taken by Shipp & Co. and he is still indebted to them several thousand dollars. About eighty laborers worked on the place, and Shipp, Bourges & Co. took all the crop raised by many of them, paying certain sums awarded by the Board of Arbitration. Nothing was awarded to Gibson's squad, they having already received more than most
