During the summer of 1888, the steamer Fish Hawk made an investigation of the oyster beds of Providence River, and of New Haven, Conn., and during the following winter both the steamer Fish Hawk and the schooner Grampus were at work on the western and southern crast of Florida, the former in the interest of the mullet fishery, the latter making and investigation of the red snapper and grouper fishing grounds.
