Dear Doris

Another sunny day with a cool air. I have been out digging dandelions. I found enough for dinner. they were a change from spinnage & nice & tender. I made cookies & a pan of biscuits. Harris came early. Pa said he was not ready for him. Pretty indapent I should say. He takes greece freaks. He gets pretty mad at night when I ask him to take his fig syrup & sometimes he wont take it atall last night he was ugly over it but humble afterwards when he got himself again & went off to bed. He feels better off by himself upstairs. He knows he cant control himself down here long I am sure he will live a long time yet. he is telling about its being his last day because he is afraid theres no change in him that would indicate it. as long as his heart & stomac are strong as they seem to be. The two Drake girls were over last night & seemed pleased to know we would pay for whitening the two ceilings. they said come over + see it when we get it done. I would if it was not for the old man they seem nice. that can easily be taken out of the rent. they say he wont ask much he has a family of six children & he is only too glad of the job. I may have him
