The weather is very disagreeable, below freezing last night & a cold North West wind still blowing today, if it keeps up I am afraid we get a set back out of it, if not already. I was wired up & did not get much sleep last night over what I got to worrying over the Bruce rent, so before he was up this morning I went down to have a talk. they seemed to both of them to be pretty blue. he said it was pretty hard the way he had been all winter, to make enough to live on. but the building he had an equity in downtown was on the point to be sold. it was in a Boston agents hands & (they the party who were to purchase it). were here yesterday measuring it. so in a few days they were sure to take it off his hands & he would give me my rent in full. So I was willing to trust to his word & hope I have not been too sharp. in fact he said I had been good to wait & not keep him in a worse state than he already was in. His wife said they had had an awful time. they say she takes in washing. his mother lives there & sews for a living. she made Lena a dress once. I told him the rent was low & we must
