Dear Doris

Our first sunshiny day last night with a northwest wind left on our ground a very white feast. today the wind has been in the same cold quarter. but its very bright sun. I have cleaned the north chamber in spite of Pa he gets keyed up if any thing out of the usual is done. But however it is done and I am satisfied. I called up Bruces [[Bruce's]] house but he was not home. She said she would tell him. I don't feel they have any thing to pay rent with but time will tell. I believe if it were possible he would pay his bills. But it may be the means of spurring him up a bit. I don't think I have very nagging with them. Lots of people are out of work & of course its [[it's]] hard for them tp pay their bills. I dont [[don't]] see how they manage. theres [[there's]] Knute he does not work & what supports him? God knows I dont [[don't]]. Pa is down out of the chamber warming up. he does not say a word but goes up again, interesting very quiet & peaceful for the last few days George McGarvey has got another torment. a young houndog [[hound dog]] he has yelped the whole afternoon I guess we will all go crazy with him. he is homesick & I pity him. the whole family are gone dogs.
