friend from Wash DC. who is quite chummy with Sid. He has been down in Cuba & Florida for a couple of months & was glad to see Sid. He came up last evening (all in his Catholic frock, but when we met him at the Park, he was in khaki!) and brought a big box of Guava paste, which I don't care for, some pomegranates, green citrus hybrids and other things botanical.

Sid entertained him in the kitchen with specimens & talk & we went off to bed early. Today we have all had baths & washed out all our clothes. After naps, which Sid, the baby & Mrs. C. are taking, we are going for a little ride about Miami to satisfy Mrs. C.'s love for post cards! We really didn't pay much attention to the city coming as we had a feverish child to see to.

Tomorrow we shall go to Ft. Myers.

I wish you had some of the tomatoes we had for lunch. We got a huge bagful of them, dead ripe, for only 5ยข. Sid bought a fine Florida fish for dinner today, - Kingfish, that reminds me of slices of halibut, only sweeter. We are having loads of oranges & grapefruit. The baby had the juice of 5 oranges yesterday.

I will try to get some cards myself today to enclose & a few flowers I have picked here in the yard this afternoon. A banana tree is blossoming at one end of the house, an alligator pear and a palm at the other. I have taken pictures of the place & will send them both when they are printed.

Doris

Hope you aren't freezing ... it is hard to imagine it here to day!
