Stoughton March 16th 1933

Dear Doris

This has been a Marchy day. it cleared off & the wind blew hard all night. every thing frozen hard this morning again. the thermometer below 20° this morning. no frogs here for a while, nor robins. I heard a wood pecker early this morning still snow aroun [[around]] the edges. I am making a fish chowder for our dinner. Pa is beginning to get uneasy so the only thing to do is get his dinner a little after ten. I shall be glad when this wind gets into a different quarter it goes right throug [[through]] you. This afternoon it seems not so much wind, so it may be going down. I am sitting here writing in the warm sun. everything quiet Pa is reading his paper. before he took his nap I perswaided [[persuaded]] him to change his outside shirt, as he didnt change it Sunday so it was very dirty. I have just got it washed out + on the line drying. Alice has just called up + told me that she had got two books for me out of the library. but I will get them tomorrow when its a little warmer I think. I never see Myrtie she goes down to Alices but does not come here & guess she does not walk as much as she did. her legs are awful big + she does not lose flesh by dieling [[dieting]]
