I told him I was entirely sick of living + he said the same there was nothing to look forward to. all the old friends were passing away. his heart is pretty weak + has to walk very slow. he will go some time very sudden. she is also very miserable. they have had those operations + never been the same since. too hard for them at this time of life. it affected his heart also it was the anaesthetics [[anesthetics]] very powerful for such a terrible operation under it so long. beware of operations better die of the disease than have ones heart knocked out.

The sun is coming in on me fine. it feels good as I sit here writing the letter. when it goes down to night I fear it will be a cold night. if this March wind stays up. I wonder if you are staying home all day. I brought Pa home some gum drops all colors. he says his tobacco is most gone. Talbot always brings him some. but he has not been here for some time now. 

I wonder if the baby had got over that fear of being left alone she had in the summer time. she was afraid of being alone out of doors, I wonder what caused it. well its getting on toward time to start my tea we have supper around four & go to bed at half past seven. I have a long night up at six on half past come down in my nightie + make my fire then down cellar + start the heater + then dress
