I have just called up Maude to find if Ralph shut the window in the old house. she said when he went away this morning he said he was going to, as he did not come home to dinner she could not say. but guess he must have. he should have done so yesterday & then this rain would'nt [[wouldn't]] have mattered. I did the best I could to help Sidney.

Since the rain the grass has turned a deeper shade of green & now if the rain does'nt [[doesn't]] turn into snow I shall be thankful. hardly any left except where there were drifts.

Pa says theres [[there's]] nothing right, every things wrong. its [[it's]] most time for his supper. then he is always uneasy. he is now walking the floor & every now & then opening the hall door to see if his paper has come. I made some biscuits to day, for a change, they were very light & good Pa ate three for his supper. so guess Pa liked them allright [[alright]].
