Stoughton February 2nd 1933

Dear Doris,

This is one of the nice pleasant days after raining during the night & clearing this morning. I was out early doing odd jobs, splitting up the board into kindlings & carting away my ashes from the back steps into the back driveway, so it wont pile up & be a worse job later in the spring. its just like spring today & its seems good to go outside & breathe the good fresh air again early this morning I went up 7 opened the windows in both rooms to air out pretty soon up he comes & shuts down his window he wont have fresh air the Capens are all alike in that respect. they are afraid of taking cold they have their own way & you cant move them an inch. set in their nature.

Pearl Drake has just been over to pay her rent bill she says they took Lon Thompson to the hospital for observation. Kanute was going in to that same hospital that day for an operation & Smith said wait we will see if he will take you along too. he asked Lonnie & L says "no" he will be a hog to the
