Stoughton February 1st 1933

Dear Doris

Still warm & sunny. I found under the front room windows some few violets in bloom. they are fragrant & deep colored. this shows the winter has been mild with us on the whole, cold spells of a short duration.

I travelled down town yesterday afternoon to find after visiting three different places that have kept the almanacs, none left sold out. Cobb said they had ordered some & were expecting them anytime so perhaps I may be lucky enough to get one sometime later, so have hopes I will get one there if possible.

I have just seen the little birds flocking around in the back yard after things I throw out, so guess this last storm was not the death of them. they must have gone hungry while it lasted poor little things.

The paper says another storm expected tonight. I hope it will be of short duration. The oil man comes today this has lasted me a month & I wasn't out untill the last of the week it would have gone. it is a dollar cheaper.
