well if it comes at night its no matter.

The dress goods came this noon & it will be a good birthday present so pretty + very nice cloth easy to sew on.

I was sorry to hear of Sidney's being sick & banished to the up stairs retreat, who acts as a nurse, or does he wait on himself. There is a plenty of good coasting now & children in the storm of yesterday were out enjoying it. we have had such mild weather that both skating & coasting have not been indulged in this winter as usual. The sun has shone bright all day & now its 1/2 past four & Pa is finishing his supper, he has been eating half an hour. really its the only real comfort he takes in life & likes to remain at the table after I get through tasting first one thing & then another, he rarely eats any butter but likes sugar & sweets, I let him do as he has a mind to. I opened a quart jar of blueberries, he eats those every day, they keep him about right in his bowels. now he will have his paper to look forward to & go to bed at six. well if it was not so icy I would go dow [[down]] after Sids [[Sid's]] almanac they said they might get it by the first of the week, but guess a day or two wont make much difference to him & tomorrow the going may be better. I hate the ice.
