Stoughton January 29th 1933

Dear Doris

a mighty cold day to this morning with wind blowing furiously. its grown several degrees colder since I first got up out of bed. we all rested well. Pa is quiet and dozes most of the time now in his [[morris/mom's?]] chair with a pillow at his back + the side so he can occasionally change his position. we have had the chair for him since Bobb came the last time as he cant lie down at all. Lina stays with him most of the time now. she is better than any nurse could be possibly. The doctor asked if his legs broke out any, so I suppose they some times do. but she rubs them with alcohol + [[Hasol?]] + it has kept them all right so far. they have swelled so that we have taken off his stockins [[stockings]]. he grows weaker but I feel that he is having the best of care night + day + as he is its easier from time to time.

I called up the hospital to go down for a treatment because I wanted James to take me down to the bank as I had to pay Bobb tomorrow morning. the Dr said order the
