Dear Doris

You letter has not reached me yet but I think it may this afternoon. this is one of the sunny days but a trifle cooler. the air is good. twords [[towards]] morning the wind blew hard & the air made wonderfully clear. just see how this month is going out without a hitch. I went down to the little corner store this forenoon & Pa never knew it. I got out of rice & wanted badly so I got away without going through any haggling for once.
I find some very pretty pieces in the bundle that came yesterday. There are lots of different colors that will set off the quilt in fine shape.

I asked if he saw Mrs Oddies portrait donnto [[down to]]
