Stoughton January 6th 1933

Dear Doris

I got the check today but I had enough without it & told you not to send it. you must have money aplenty & to burn as they say. this is one of my busy days Pa is fractious. Harris has been here to shave him "every thing is going to pieces shure [[sure]]".

I am well along with the bed quilt & have had cloth enough. tomorrow I put it together to not [[knot]]. the old quilt was finely quilted & it was a job to get the cotton out, but at last I succeeded. the cloth was very rotten so I tore it off in pieces I did it upstairs & it did not get all over the house the little room was warm over the kitchen & sunny so I enjoyed it working there & it was a change. Pa was in his room, so it was easy for him he says that. he is afraid to stay by him self alone. He is afraid something is going to happen so he keeps looking in when I am working. I have washed today & its been a good day to dry clothes. not very cold the wind is west 'tis very sunny. doesn't the winter hold off. I guess February will be a tough month & perhaps the last of January the old saying you know is "Winter never rots in the sky" will prove true.
