January 31, 1925. THE HEEBIE JEEBIES 9

WHOA, TILLIE!

Now, the Mysterious Stranger says, all the boys can understand why the use-to-be Miss Maxine Moore used to stick them up on those Sunset dates. While Maxine was smiling she was busy, too, and went right on down to the Sunset and picked out the best one there. She's said to be one of the best little girls in town on interpreting dances and now maybe she's interpreting the boys. This ain't the first time, but

Never mind, Maxine, don't you cry,
You'll catch the right one by and bye.

At one of the dances this week, the Mysterious Stranger listened to a little wife, wearing a dark silk gown, bordered with black velvet, dark hose and slippers, sing some little "blues," entitled: "Don't Ever let Your Mouth Start Something That Your Head Can't Stand For." The song came ofter her hubby had danced three "straights" with "Miss Chicago."

Can you beat it? Harry Morgan was out Monday night looking over the flappers for the first time in ten years.

Miss Marion Harris, oh where did, where did, where did you get that hat?
Sweet William, Sweet William, Sweet William D. Jack.
They're talkin' about you, behind your sweet back.

Henry Lezama had a call from the police one Saturday morning early, but when he told them his name was Lezama, they thought a minute had changed their minds. Perhaps it should be remarked that they were not really after Henry, but he got frightened thinking they had found out something.

When Ben White saw the Mysterious Stranger the other night, Mr. White was accompanying a pretty little manicurist and told the Stranger to put that in the Heebie-Jeebies. That is too tame, the Stranger wishes to explain, but if Mr. White really ants to see something hot, he had better get little Jeebie next week.
