AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Wm. Jenifer Powell, twenty-eight years of age, stands out as one of the most progressive young men of his race. Before entering college, his ambitions were turned toward the business world.

Born in Henderson, Kentucky, July 29, 1897. Came to Chicago at the age of eight years. Schooled in Chicago, finishing a four-year science course and a two-year electrical course in three and a half years. Was a member of the Wendell Phillips Quartette, which won much distinction. Finished Phillips in 1916. Entered the University of Illinois in the fall of 1916. Went to Officers' Training Camp in Fort Des Moines, Iowa, in June, 1917. His musical ability made him a great favorite at the camp, being an excellent tenor singer and piano player. Was commissioned First
