Lieutenant A.E.F. at expiration of officers' training camp, being the youngest officer commissioned at the camp.

Served overseas as liaison and munition officer with 317th Engineers and 365th Infantry. Immediately after being discharged from army in 1919, re-entered University of Illinois and resumed studies. Graduated with honors in the Class of 1922, receiving the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Worked as electrical engineer and electric welding instructor for Rock Island Railroad for two years.

Built Filling Station No. 1 April, 1924. Completed garage building and Station No. 2 September, 1924. Acquired Station No. 3 April, 1925. In two years' time built a business from one employee to present number of seventeen employes [[employees]].

Incorporated business for $200,000.00 capital stock January 1, 1926.

Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Tenor soloist of Berean Baptist Church Choir.
