William J. Powell, 4600 Wabash Ave. has one of the best equipped and most thoroughly modern gas and oil filing station in the city.  Prompt service, uniform courtesy and the intelligent anticipation of the wants of patrons have won a splendid patronage from all.
One success frequently paves the way for another.  On Aug. 23 Mr. Powell will open his newly constructed modern 150-car garage across the [[?]] from his filling station, at 4627 Wabash Ave.  The building was designed by Charles Duke, architect.
There is a large sales room in front containing aa complete line of automobile accessories and radio supplies and adjoining the electrical [[?]] room under the supervision of [[?]].
'23. and Ambu Electrical institute, '24.  At the vulcanzing shop will be in charge of R. A. Stallworth, and S. R. Samuels will assist Mr. Powell in the conduct of the garge.  The filling station is managed by Lloyd Lewis.  The two establishments give employment to 12 men of our Race.  Herman K. Barnett, attorney, 184 W. Washington St., represented Mr. Powell in all legal matters connected with the purchase and construction of the above properties, representing an investment of over $85,000.
Mr. Powell is a young man, 26 years of age.  He finished Wendell Phillips high school, Chicago; graduated from the University of Illinois, in '22 in electrical engineering; served two years overseas as first lieutenant in the 817th engineers and 365th infantry.  He is affiliated with the Masonic lodge, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Royal Circle of Friends and the [[?]] Baptist church choir.
