Monday July 24th 1933

Dear Doris

Another hot day but more air stirring I have come in from the back steps where I have been sunning my hind leg & am cooking Pa some prunes after making junkets for the supper & now I feel all in but will start your letter. Pa comes down to point his finger at the grill he is afraid to have any thing cooked & now has gone back up into his hot chamber. I managed to get the dirty clothes changed last night & have them drying on the clothes line together with mine nothing gets ironed these times I just do what [[strikethrough]] its [[/strikethrough]] absolutely has to be done.
The night was long. constant suffering all night but after four I managed to drowse off & woke in intense pain. Pa comes in to sympathyze [[sympathize]]. its a couple of old fogies one trying to do for the other but without having it in their power to do much.

Mrs. Gilzer went down for that alchohol [[alcohol]] & mustard oil but no druggist would sell it they all pronounced it dangerous stuff to get into the eyes but Oulette sent me up a little sample bottle of olive oil & wintergreen that he said people found good it is good but the [[Lodex?]] & wintergreen much more to my taste it does not
