Dear Doris

After the shower of last night it is cool. the fire in my stove in the kitchen seems good. I have been busy all the day so far, the last screen door I have just finished painting. Louie is busy he was in hopes to get the congregation at church to paint. I guess he had figured on it he & his wife took supper down to the church & said Talbot & his pullit were there also. Fred Chapps house was struck in the storm the other night. people spoke of it as a very peculiar storm. the whole sky was a fire all through & all over it & it let out scorching heat waves at three distinct times. that were hot enough to scorch one if you were out near them so people said. I went to bed & covered up my face. I guess we were pretty near hell if descriptions are correct. the sky alone was enough to frighten one. say nothing about the constant flash & deep rumble. Alice says she never is afraid. Percy is. it does not seems possible to think any one can be calm when such things are going on. but suppose those who know nothing fear nothing. Last night the shower was very different
