Stoughton June 11th 1993

Dear Doris
We have had two very nice days since the terrible tempest which stuck up to the southern part of the town & burnt a barn in Randolph & some paper said a large green house some where else. it came before sun set & the sky was light up & looked like fire all over, in all the years of my life I never saw anything like it before. we were scart to death. it was a constant flash & very heavy thunder. every body seemed glad when it was over. we did not get the coolness untill to day. its very clear air & cool. I am sitting here writing with the blinds closed in the bay window & glass door & end window open & air draws through. the wind is west it is very comfortable Pa is up in the serving room finishing up his nap. Mr & Mrs McDonald called this morning on their way home from church. they seem to remember us as well as any of our old friends & always inquire about you. every body speaks in glowing terms of the house & how pretty it looks & like the color of the blinds. I have finished my book & so have nothing to read. yesterday the man came & got this grass around the
