Dear Doris
a nice warm sunny day. I guess its pretty hot in the sun, the thermometer registers over 95 o at our back door. Sidneys father said once, "keep this door closed to shut out the heat. "he used to come up with his ladder for Sidney to get up to the birds nest, in Pa's woods. he kept going clear up to almost the last & displayed lots of courage, though his eyesight was most gone. we never stopped to realize his condition. she was the one he waited on & loved. isn't it horrid to grow old & lose ones faculties. we never worry about them while we are young. but they got [[?]] miss them & its too late to recall what we have lost. I have been hoeing my garden. it seems to be doing fine. even my lettuce seed is springing up planted less than a week ago. the rain brought things ahead as usual. our roses are blooming hedgehog & bosault. my poppies (orientals) are also are also in bloom others have gone by. they are late because they are more shaded. flowers go by to quickly. they only came once a year, the ivy gelias & seringas are in bloom & the latter scent the whole yard. I hear Mamie
