Dear Doris

A queer day cloudy one minute & hot sun the next, with plenty of breeze throughout the whole. I have set out my last pot of plants in the ground & tonight will plant my cosmos seeds under the rosebushes out front of the house. Louie is doing his last finishing stroke to the outside doors. a beautiful shade of green like the blinds. they add very much to the looks. now let me tell you of the house, they are the finishing touch. a house looks bare & plain without them. Louie is painting the outside doors & its a fussy puttering job. he has got them pretty near done. then he is going to paint the top of the bay window & the piazza & steps. he says they are to have a go over but he dont [[don't]] think he will waste much paint on them for they are too far gone & the outside screen door. he will go over it looks rather rusty (glass door.) then the ridge poll & he will be done. it says showers tomorrow so by that time it may strike in & do no harm. we have been very lucky so far in having such favorable weather for the painting. Pa is watching him paint, when he can do so unseen to Louie. but stays
