Stoughton June 2nd 1933

Dear Doris
The sun is here at last, its just a lovely day. I have now planted lettuce in my garden. Last night while the Drake girl sat here, I saw three dogs over in my garden tumbling around playing. they were young dogs. I hastened out & drove them away or else my beans would have been ruined. as it was they were some trampled & broken. I happened to see it in time. There are too many running loose these times. When I went down to Alices yesterday she was getting things ready to chloroform three little kittens. Hattie Packard was doing the work. Alice didn't know how. I guess she did not like the job & I don't know who does. Louie is painting the front of the house he wanted a good day for the job & it couldn't be better if ordered. it has been pretty cold all this week, but now it is sunny and will warm up & be the other extreme probably. I got some strawberries to day. Pa seems to enjoy them so I had one more box. I don't care much for them but they wont go a begging perhaps with us once in a while. Mrs. Ballentine has just called me over to let me see her refridgerator. she said she would let
