(here manure & sand) every thing grows good over there. I told Gertrude it needed a man & she said she had not even a prospect of one. she turns every thing into a joke. lots of fun in her. I have her  another boquet [[bouquet]] of snowballs. spirea & then a bunch of wild lilly of the valley & sasaferilla blossoms. she will be bringing in some of her fudge by tomorrow she is generous. her mother is the sharp old thing. its still raining soaking down into the ground in fine shape. glad now I did not want the water. hope it rains easy all night. The night before decoration George Ring had his iris blossoms stolen. he is cutting down his hedge he has an electric pair of shears, but even so he says its some job. yesterday was a cold day one needed a fire I had one all day in my cook stove & my sweater I wore all day. well this will answer for news to day. hope the baby dont get her finger bitten of by the old turtle I would be careful & not let her have any to play with.
