her before she married her last husband. I notice they don't say much when they meet. one can't talk without getting into a row with the jade. This afternoon the sun is beginning to shine out but it is a cool wind. Oh if it would only wet down the ground a bit. Your picture of Sids [[Sid's]] class came this morning its [[it's]] good of you all three. the baby is looking up & she had on the little blue dress with white dots. but I am sending back the picture in the next letter it is a holiday & no mail tomorrow. my oriental poppies are all full of buds & once [[ones]] in Geo McGarveys [[McGarvey's]] they are blossomed. she has all kinds of flowers, some rare ones & her rock garden is beautiful everything is thrifty. they are never at home only for their meals & to sleep. but she is nice & modest appearing. Mrs. Kendall said that Jim Capen was growing lame that he could hardle [[hardly]] get around but was such a good man in his family so good to her she is terribly bent over its [[it's]] her kidney trouble that makes her so. well there is nothing more this time so will stop Ma.

PS This is the next morning & my letter will remain over on account of its being a holiday. its [[it's]] another cool day no sun. but all the better for marching. I have just picked a big boquet [[bouquet]] for the Ballentines [[Ballentine's]]. as long as I am not going to decorate myself I wanted some one to get the benefit of the flowers I have a lot. & Gertrude is a nice innocent girl so modest appearing you would take to her
Ma
