Dear Doris

This is a splendid cool sunny day. I am outside enjoying the bracing air. then I come in for a while & work a bit. then read my magazine in the cool house & go out again. its an ideal day. I am anxious to set out my plants, but feel theres [[there's]] no hurry as long as the painting is going on. the seeds I have not planted yet. I want them planted near the house, under my front windows, so they will have to wait until the house is done. Pa is quiet he has got over his nervousness in having the house painted, as Louie he's very quiet & here alone in that way he means to do the job as cheap as he sees fit, so not to take it out of Earl who is on a different job. they are painting Frank Linfields [[Linfield's]] house on Seaver street I think. they have been painting Fred Clapps [[Clap's]] house. I have been turning six curtains on the backside of the house, two in the dining room, one in the kitchen, & one in the pantry. its quite a job, but now they look like new & it will give the house a good look after its fresh coat of paint. now the curtains have most all been turned. they have lasted a good long time, ever since the house was built. I never pull them
