Dear Doris

A nice day but dry we need rain. The sky looked macrilly [[mackerel]] & we may get some soon. I went down after stamps & envelopes & saw Bobbie Swan & had a long talk with him. he wanted to know all about Pa. he is very good hearted & very loyal to his friends. as I was going down Seaver Street Louie Dykeman came down the ladder off the building where he was at work & said if it was pleasant tomorrow he would begin on the house to paint. Smith came & mowed our lawn last night so thats [[that's]] better. as I came home up Porter Street I saw Anna & Mort out front of their house & so run over to speak with them a minute & he gave me some batchelors [[batchelor's]] buttons. big plants to set out in my garden. they said that Beatrice Monk was getting pretty chummy with Gerard, that she goes there a lot. & if she did not look out she might get talked about. well it would serve her right if she knows no better after being warned. Pa is very quiet he stays up stairs all his time. he got keyed up when the lawn was mowed. but calmed down after wards & went off to bed. No knowing how the painting will affect him, time will tell.
