I dont seem to have any Xmas spirit here for all I have been so kindly remembered.  I hope the atmosphere clears some time for us all, its terrible for him as well as us. he says theres nothing here after Jack Wayland would be just as hard as he is if he ever is sick.  the Bruce boy came to day & payed the rent & promised to pay more, hope he makes good his promise, dont you?  well this is hoping you will enjoy the Xmas day. she may go home. PS Friday morning

We all had a good nights rest, the house was nice & warm all night the heat went on early.  Pa was hungry for his breakfast, he expects Harris so he was up early to give himself a good washing.  it is cloudy.  it looks like a storm.  its bare ground, without much ice.  I hope you are not having icy going.  Colcord said he was glad his job was near home such winter weather.  the going so early is awful slipery [[slippery]] & coming home so late at night its terrible bad.  he was working in Bandolph then.
