for fear of seeing Louie, but he is off waiting for the first coat to dry this afternoon. we have just had our afternoon tea. the wind has not gone down & the cold spell still keeps up at three O-clock the thermometer is up to 19° above 0, theres [[there's]] a black cloud coming up in the west & may be a snow storm later on. as it was prophesied for to day in last nights paper. the house was warm all night Mrs Osbourne has terrible cold feet she took a flat iron to bed with her & it kept her warm through the night. I never saw any one who enjoyed books to read as she does & guess she has been one who never had much time to indulge in reading. she enters right into her reading & tells the stories to me as she goes along. it is very comicle [[comical]]. Alice is good to givess [[give us]] the books to read James gets them. he is always wanting to know if theres [[there's]] any place I want to stop. Miss Ray the nurse is in love with him. I can tell from the way she acts when I praise him. Pa has eaten sparingly & gone up stairs to bed he says he is not hungry but crazy there is a change in him we see these last few days. I was weighed the other day Monday Miss O'Brine wanted to see how much I had gained. 135 lbs so I have added some to my weight since I was last weighed. my medicine creates an appetite she says. she is a good deal heavier than that.
