Pa slept well. the wind kept up blowing a gale all night. it bought in its wake a colder morning 4° above 0 but pleasant & no snow or rain Ma.

Dear Doris,

The day is chilly after a cold spell of weather Sunday the thermometer was 10° above & this morning 8° above. We arranged to keep the house warm & this morning it was very warm to get up to. there's a chill in the air today that we are aware of. & no sun, before morning we may wake up to a snow storm. Pa is down more & he seems wild when he first wakes up. I think there's been a change in him since Saturday, where he came down complaining of a whisling [[whistling]] sensation to his head. More embolism perhaps. he says everything is going to pieces & he wants to be around me, his hand on my shoulder & afraid to go up to his bed at night, sort of bewildered in a way he wants one to sympathize with is condition more scart [[scared]]. he keeps touching my arm. he has just told me there is not much hair left on my head now. it is come out since I have been this way. there are two days Thursdays & Sundays the doctor lets me skip. a man come from Boston to be treated.
