Miss O Brine told me about her yesterday. she is an awful gossip & they did not want her around. they would find her listening to what was going on in the rooms where they were treating patients. finally they asked her what paper she was reporter for. & made her come in & go up the back stairs. she would ask what they were being treated for & if any women were coming for babie scrapes just to tell it all over town. she was Wades daughter up to Dry Pond. he used to bring my kindling from Belcers shop. & he did the chores, milked the cow, for Dr Packard. Miss O Brine tells me lots of thing that go on in the hospital & little Miss Ray says she looks forward to my coming mornings. she in favor of James. Miss O has just got her washing & ironing done & has sat down to read her book. I have put a line accross [[across]] the porch where we dry our clothes in bad weather & then we dont have them whipped by the wind. we are gitting [[getting]] more sun & not so much wind this afternoon. I am looking for James now, any minute. two days a going we have had corn chowder. Pa says what is that d——ed stuff. so we gave him a hot cup cake & a dish of prunes. we are fond of the chowder I dont think I will make any adiou [[ado?]] over a thanksgiving dinner. let her take the afternoon off & have something easy to get for our dinner.
