Stoughton Nov 14th 1933

Dear Doris

The sun has come out after a rainy & snowy night it is a cooler atmosphere, we have managed to keep the heat on in spite of its being turned off by Pa at 60° so now with the sun & cook stove, the house is warm enough. I slept well during the night & feel good accordingly this morning. our winter weather has come earlier than common this year but we will get used to it I presume. The strikes are making sad havoc with business. times are bad enough withou [[without]] them I should think. if we live through this winter it would mean a great struggle for the working people. 'twill be a hard winter I am sure. Georgie Brigges funeral is to day she has been feeble a great many years. Alice will miss her, but its just a little while then she will follow. its the natural order of things & not to regret, the older generation going & making room for the younger ones. In spite of every obsticle [[obstacle]] we go when our time comes & not before. I always envy the ones who have got through their earthly struggle before they lose their
