Dear Doris
Another sunny nice day warm so I have sat out on the sun porch at noon & it was very pleasant. the trees are losing their leaves fast since the freeze & all the flowers in gardens have been nipped.

As I go past George Richmonds house the house is being fixed up, they are improving it for occupancy & the daughters family were there Sunday. I saw the parents were long lived but it was too bad the mother had to fall down cellar in order to terminate her life she was a good woman & deserved a better fate.

Mrs Osborns daughter her married one is sick so the one who is hunch backed told her over the phone this noon & is going to have a baby the doctor is going to keep her in bed for a few days, as he is afraid it may come too soon. I have just had my tea at 3 o'clock Mrs Osborn is getting me into bad habits she thinks it does us both good I had a nap after drinking it & eating a cup cake Pa comes down for his she makes them very much as you do in your receit in the letter

Transcription Notes:
receit = receipt, old-fashioned term for "recipe"
