The condition of the Freedmen of this Subdist. has not undergone any change since my last report. Only a few complaints came to my knowledge. I have mitigated contracts between these white parties and several colored people. The County of [[?]] of [[?]] was in again on first Monday of this month. Three indictments for larceny were tried against colored men and the defendants acquitted.

I have the honor to report that no outraged committed between whites and blacks came to my knowledge. There is a rumor here that a colored man was killed by his wife near Yanceyville. I have written there for confirmation but received yet no answer.

In compl. with your order of Jan 24th 1867 I have the honor to report, that no violation of the Act of Congress entitled "An Act to protect all persons in the U.S. in the Civil Rights" have occurred in this Subdist. since Aug 17 1866. I have been in office. No records have been turned over to me by the Ast. Supt at Hillsboro who was in charge of it previous to that.

In compl. with your order of the 4th unit. I have the honor to report, corporal punished, as whipped [[?]] has been inflicted here for larceny several times [[strikethrough]]in [[?]][[/strikethrough]] since I have been here. The Com. has been administered irrespective of color, and I have reported all all the cases where colored men were there punished. [[?]]  Supt. of the [[?]] was never published to me [[?]] I know when it was suspended. Since Novb 19. 1866 no corporal punishment
