The Fifth Avenue Association INC. EMPIRE STATE BUILDING FIFTH AVENUE---NEW YORK OFFICERS JOHN H. TOWNE, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD WILLIAM J. PEDRICK, PRESIDENT ANCELL H. BALL, VICE-PRESIDENT DOUGLAS L. ELLIMAN, VICE-PRESIDENT JOHN S. BURKE, VICE-PRESIDENT HARRIS A. DUNN, TREASURER THOMAS W. HUGHES, SECRETARY TELEPHONE: PEnnsylvania 6-7900 In reply, please refer to #6. April 30, 1932 Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc. 3 East 51st Street New York, N. Y. Gentlemen Attention of Mr. Germain Seligman I have a twofold purpose in writing to you at this time. I want to thank you for your assistance in our work during 1931 and to urge you to continue your aid during the present year because of the greater need for our activities in these days when business, realty, and residential interests are stirring into activity again. Conditions in the Fifth Avenue Section today are remarkably similar to those which existed in 1921. The courage and loyalty of our members at that time made the development which followed those panicky days of the early twenties the greatest this section has ever witnessed. Similarly, the past three years have been very trying ones, but our section today is in an excellent position to take advantage of the expected upturn in business. The twenty-five years experience of our Association indicates that there can never be stability and progress where there is fear of invasion by speculative interests, and that fear, we believe, would soon return if the protective influence of the Association were ever removed from this section. Looking back, I am sure you will agree that the work of this Association has been well worth while. Your confidence, loyalty, and support can insure that it will be carried on. I hope, therefore, that we will receive your check for dues for the coming year and that we will continue to have your cooperation in the important activities which lie ahead. Very sincerely yours Wm. J. Pedrick Wm. J. Pedrick President T Enc.
